It’s been 5 days since the took all of the saline out of my band b/c I got steak stuck in it. Well, they put 5 cc’s back in last monday but you wouldn’t know it b/c I have NO restriction. I’ve gained 7 lbs! Yesterday I had fish n chips for lunch, a butterfinger, an entire pint of ben n jerry’s chubby hubby, cookies, cheese…you name it – I ate it. So I tried to make an appointment today to get some more saline put in but they wouldn’t do it – said no more fill until this coming monday. At which time they will put in 2 cc’s – which will bring me up to 7…then I have to wait ANOTHER WEEK to get the additional 2 which would put me back to where I was (9cc’s in my 10cc band). I’m so frustrated. By that time I will probably gain back 20 lbs. I want to learn how to do fills myself so I don’t have to deal with this. Has anyone actually done a fill themself??? Lap-Band land is not a good place to be this week…
Being unfilled is HORRIBLE. Gained 7 lbs!

omg! Were you sick from eating all that food?? I had surgery 8 weeks ago and I haven’t had a fill yet because my doc said I didn’t need one. I think I would get sick just looking at that much food!
Good luck!
nope – totally didn’t get sick! was fine – and that’s with 5cc’s in my band! but remember – i’m down to 130 lbs so i need it super tight to have any restriction.
Lise,
Were you taking any kind of supplements?
Could you take capsules at 9cc’s?
I figure that you were so tight that you could mostly do fluids or just mushy stuff right?
I am only at 5.5CC and still slime from time to time….bread is the worst for me. I promised myself TODAY, no more bread for me! ( Cornbread does ok, and I can eat chips till the sun comes up….go figure.)
I MUST stop the sweets and junk…I have gained 5 lbs the past couple of weeks…I never ate sweets or junk before the band, (I must have been too full on the two huge plates of real food that I would eat), but now….seems like I can’t stay away from sweets and junk food.
I thought about getting a small fill, but then I would slime EVERYTHING… don’t know what to do, but keep away from the bad stuff and exercise… of course that’s what everyone needs to do.
Tell me what was a normal day of food for you BEFORE the unfill.
Thanks,
Robbie
PS hang in there!!
I have heard of people who do their own fills. But those people were nurses so they delt with needles all day. I dont have the guts to do my own fills, but I have thought about it. It doesnt look like its rocket science.
My friend in Iowa is doing her own fills. Her cousin, an RN and also banded, taught her how to do it. She said it is simple and easy. I wish I was brave enough to do it myself too.
man o man I only have 2 1/2 cc’s in my 10cc band so I can imagine how hungry you were! I am the same way. Its good to know when you hit the right restriction it really does get better!
That is frustrating. It doesn’t look like you’ve updated in a while. How are things going now? Looking forward to an update.
I’m confused. Why would you guys get an artificial device to lose all of this weight and continue to eat garbage??
After all of that work, why don’t you retrain your tastebuds with only healthy foods and your body to respond to daily exercise? (It only takes a full very difficult 14 days…after that, you really don’t want the junk like before…healthy foods just taste better because your tastebuds die and you generate new ones every 2 weeks.)
The exercise becomes fun when you aren’t as heavy as before, because things are not quite as difficult to perform.
Happy for your success but I’m sad and confused as to why I am reading that you are so dependent upon an artificial device to do what you can do on your own. Have faith in yourself and just do it!
@ Supportive and Confused… You wrote and nice clean go team sort of speech, but here it the deal….
Most who get the band are not getting this to get ONE step ahead, it is a way of life.
If self control and exercise were not an issue, well the there would be no use for the band.
Being banded you are on a limited amount of calories. Once it is unfilled, you go up at least an additional 500 calories. This is eating healthy or not. Eating unhealthy well of course more.
Point is there is still weight gain.
With all read and said I safely assume you are not banded.
Thanks for the post
