I just blogged about this right now.. I’m soooo where you are right now… I’m badly in need of a fill, and I can’t get in until the 28th.. Now, nothing is making me full… Ugh! Definitely will be calling back in tomorrow morning to see if there has been any cancelations with my doc!
Doesn’t it suckkkkkk!!!!! I wish cancellations were my issue – but they just refuse to let me in until monday…even though they’ve let me in multiple times/week before. I think it’s b/c i’m self-pay and past the 1 year (free fill) time frame so therefore they want to stretch out my fills so i’ll have to keep paying the $150/fill rate. So greedy. So mean. Meanwhile all of my pants are getting tight. I’m going to be right back where I was before i even got my band pretty soon!!! which really sux b/c i just got all of these new clothes and they are already getting too tight!
actually i looked into them – but they are all the way in marysville – which is like 2 hours north of me…but we’ll see what happens this monday – and i’ll look to them as a next resort!
I feel your pain, I got sick in May and haven’t hadn’t had a fill until yesterday!!!! I gained 29 pounds back (and before all of you gasp – I was so sick before I let them take out the saline solution that I had lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks – I was severly dehydrated, starving & had to hospitalized) so 15 was expected – the other 15 is my own darn fault (it coincided with a nasty breakup — note to self no restriction + bad breakup = emotional eating). On the positive side because of the breakup I started working out & quit drinking & smoking . It’s truely ugly when I think about how far & fast I fell & about how easy it was to do. Grrr…but I digress… I finally got back into the doctor for a fill yesterday & that made exactly 51 days with NO restriction. I can’t explain how good it feels to have restriction back…but on the flip side of that I am very disappointed in myself that I still have to rely on it so heavily. I was uber glad I hadn’t given away my 12/14s (I was in a size 10 *pouting*).
Apparently I needed to get that out…so many thanks to those that “listened”.
Oooh no!!! 29 lbs! I feel your pain! So why wouldn’t they let you in to get a fill since may? how much did you get in when you finally got the fill? what size band do you have? how long have you been banded? what caused the unfill?
Hi Because I was sick I had to wait 3 weeks before getting a fill & then my doctor ended up being out of town & scheduling difficulties… I was able to have 4 put in on Monday & I’ve dropped 6 pounds since. I feel a lot better, but still need about 2 more ccs bringing me to 6. I have a 10 cc band & got banded March of 08. To date I’ve lost 124 (although I had made it to 149 before I got sick. I was filled to tight & didn’t know it, kept getting sick & they thought they band had slipped. Thank goodness that wasn’t the case!! But they still had to unfil me to get everything back the way it needed to be to have a fill. How are you doing?
Hi Lise, I’m Lisa. I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog. I’m getting banded Tuesday the 21st and can only hope I do as well as you. I totally get that eating feeling – so hard to control! I am struggling with it right now. I’ve been thrilled to read that your band made that eating feeling go away and hope it will do the same for me. I am sorry you’re going through this filling bs after all that success. Why in the world would they NOT give you the right fill after it all worked so great before? It sucks and doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Anyway, hope it works out soon for you.
Hi lise, I have followed your blog for ages, but haven’t commented in awhile. I am currently 9 months preggo with baby number 1 (due ANY day now) and starting to look to life after labor and pregnancy. I kept my fill for the whole pregnancy, which is rare among preggo bandsters, and I still gained over 30 lbs, which SUX.
Kinda personal question, do you plan to have kids? I also would like a tummy tuck as that is the most of where I have excess skin, and I know after pregnancy that it will only be worse, but I plan to have more than this first child, so I was wondering if they told you anything about tummy tucks and future pregnancies? If you don’t wish to talk about having kids, I completely understand.
Hi, I have sympathy for you! That is a horrible position to be in. Your progress looks like mine, I was 212 pounds and am now around 130. I had a small defill and put on tons of weight in a short time.
My original surgeon refused to put the whole lot back in (ever! He thought I’d lost too much weight) so I just found another fill provider who does blind fills (non xray) and got him to give me another mil. That did it.
Hugs and hope you get your restriction back – it is horrible when you know what works for you and no one will give it to you. Also scary to see how the band hasn’t cured head issues. I don’t mean that in a bad way – without my restriction I’d eat my way back to 200 pounds in a hurry.
Hey Lisa and everyone with fill problems- I am so sorry to hear what’s been happening
As someone who’s waiting for surgery (Aug 7) what the band has helped you to do is just amazing and so inspiring, but it’s also scary to think that without the proper fill amount all the old stuff comes back and your back to square one in some ways.
Here’s to hoping everyone gets their fills sorted out and equilibrium back.
I completely understand. Many of my patients have the same struggles. I find it’s very important to have a great support system. Do you have support groups in your area that you can attend?

Hi Lise,
Have you heard of, or checked out these people? http://northwestfills.com/ It may be worth calling to see if they are more generous with their fills?
Good Luck!

I hate that feeling… its seems to be the norm for me lately!

Nice looking site you have – are you having fun with it? It’s interesting and well worth the time to visit.
