So I had fill number 5 today – 0.4 of a cc. So far the nurse told me that according to their scale I have lost 3.1 lbs per week. I’ve been fine with the foods I’ve eaten lately … nothing very exciting going on. A bit stressed with work and such. Kind of in a grumpy mood. Erik and I are hoping to go to Langley, WA this weekend and I would take Monday off. I need a break and we adore Langley. It’s a short ferry ride from Seattle and it’s on Whidbey Island which is amazing. The place we typically stay is wonderful b/c it’s a cabin and has no television, internet, or phone so we are forced to “relax”! 🙂

Busy … eek!

Last night Erik & I went to Lark – a restaurant in a neighborhood called Capitol Hill in Seattle. The food was fantastic – but the service was very slow. The menu featured a range of small plates, allowing you to savor courses of cheese, charcuterie, vegetables, grains, fish, and meats.


Of the cheeses we ordered:

  • Abondance: velvety, sharp, tangy
  • Epoisses: rich, intense, washed rind
  • Bleuet de chevre: savory, tangy, balanced

We also ordered:

  • Sautéed mushrooms: with olive oil and garlic
  • Smoked prosciutto: with pickled Spring garlic
  • Foie gras terrine: with caramelized pineapple and star anise
  • Carpaccio of Yellowtail: with preserved lemons and green olives

I ate a few bites of the cheese, some mushrooms (they were funky baby mushrooms), a couple slices of the prosciutto and a bite of the yellowtail. Every plate was smaller than appetizer size and had it’s own unique, distinct taste.

Afterwards, I met up with my good friend Robin for girl-talk and Erik met up with Mik for man-talk (Erik and Mik have been best friends since they were 8 years old). Robin & Mik own one of the top Seattle design agencies together which they started about 13 years ago called Engine Interactive. I worked for Engine about 5 years ago and believe it or not, Mik introduced Erik to me and the rest is history! I adore both of them – they are honestly two of my favorite people out there.

Moving right along…fill number 4 is tomorrow! I can’t believe it’s come up so quickly! Last night I had prawns for dinner and I definitely felt a little something because of the denseness of the prawns – but I would still like “more”. Weight loss has slowed down – but I’m not gaining and it’s still coming off – just super slow.

So – at work the other day I discovered this odd label on a drawer in the “art area” where the designers do things such as print, package, slice, dice, blah blah blah. They typically keep things like tape, pens, etc in these drawers – but I saw one labeled “used underwear” and thought…what the heck! So I decided to take a photo for you all to see. Just because it was so bizarre. Those crazy designers!

Just finished dinner. Steak, corn…that’s it. Had about 4 oz of steak and 2 oz of corn. But I’m STILL HUNGRY. Wahhhhhh. I want to be full. I am getting so ornery. I know I’m not supposed to drink liquid calories, but I’m going to have a Slim-Fast-accino because I am so not full or even close.

Tomorrow night I’m going to dinner with my husband, my fantastic boss Matt and his girlfriend Erica at How To Cook A Wolf. Pretty saucy name for a restaurant. The main meals are pasta which will force me to order an appetizer as my main course (good)!

I’m glad tomorrow is Monday. This weekend has been good – but long. Betcha don’t hear that too often!

Just thought it would be interesting to find out what my readers do for a living…student, nurse, sales, mom, etc?

I am the director of marketing & analytics at an amazing 80 person, 15 year old advertising/design agency in Seattle called HL2. Basically, I work with our clients to help them to establish customer insights, new opportunities to build their brands and measure their marketing effectiveness. Some of our clients include:

Prior to HL2 I worked at Expedia in the Media Solutions department where I managed the marketing communications and analytics teams. I left Expedia for HL2 because a) my commute is now 15 minutes instead of an hour each way b) I love the creative environment and the flexibility of working on different accounts.

At HL2, we do amazing work. It’s wonderful to leave work everyday knowing that your job is to create ideas that people love. I couldn’t be more lucky!

Today I found I could eat a bit more than the past few days. For lunch I could have about 3/4 of a can of tuna and for dinner about 5 oz of steak (cut up into eraser size pieces and chewed to mush). I think I will go in for my 2nd fill on Monday morning at 8am but only have about 0.5cc’s put in.

Today at the office we had the folks from Google come in and they brought us these huge chocolate chip cookies and beer to snack on during the meeting (gotta love those google folks)! And – I had NOTHING! Not even a bite. Not that the cookies didn’t smell soooo good. And yes, I was tempted. But nope. Didn’t even try a lick. I was not even tempted to have the beer…for some reason I have this odd image of my stomach exploding if I drink anything with carbonation. Anyone actually drink carbonated beverages with the band…and if so, what happened?
